Hello from Gary:
As the post title suggests, there are two topics included in this post.
The first is about how to interpret Russian women’s professional status.
And the second is to alert you to an update I made to our A Foreign Affair review.
Russian Women’s Professions
It occurs to me that many men have a misunderstanding about the professional credentials of the women whose profiles they view online. If you see a woman’s profile that states she is a doctor, or an engineer, or an accountant, don’t get excited thinking “gee if she and I were married we’d have a great income” based on her professional contributions to your household income.
Here are 3 true stories to illustrate why not:
1. Alla and I are close friends with a woman who came to America with several years of electronics engineering experience in Russia. None of that experience or her prior university degrees were applicable in America. Engineering in Russia is done according to different component specifications, tolerances, and standards than how we do things here.
2. We are also close friends with a man with advanced degrees in mathematics. He is able to work in America as a college mathematics professor. But his real love is applied mathematics (whatever that is) and again, standards, methods, and language limitations prevent him from realizing his goals in America.
3. Alla herself has 8 years of advanced education in music and is credentialed to conduct large ensembles in choral music. Choral music is important in Russian culture, but not so in America. Here, her music education is limited in use to teaching children, and that only informally because she has no teaching credentials. Again, the language barrier.
A Russian doctor cannot legally change a bandage on a patient without going through American nursing school. And a Russian accountant - - a CPA she ain’t.
Just look at all those degrees and job titles as indicators only. They are indicators that you’re dealing with someone with the intellectual capacity and personal fortitude to start and finish something.
So these are issues you need to be aware of right up front. And they are issues that you will need to help your Russian bride adjust to in coming to America.
And be realistic in your expectations. Using what I’ve written here as a guide, click on these women’s photos to view their profiles and determine if their professions are easily adaptable to American life.

A Foreign Affair Review Update
In the A Foreign Affair review I’ve updated the intro to discuss where “LoveMe.com” fits into the picture.
And also, based on discussions I had with Ken Agee, one of the owners of A Foreign Affair, I’ve added to the scam prevention topic at the end of the review.
These are both important expansions to the review and I encourage you to read them.

There are no changes to our marriage agency strategy. But if you have not yet read it and are serious about finding a foreign bride through an agency, I recommend reading it.
