Hello from Gary;
The first myth I want to dispel with is the “Russian mail order bride myth”. In October 2006, there were over 40000 Internet searches for “mail order bride” of which more than 6800 were for “Russian mail order bride”. If you think you’re going to be Dustin Hoffman in “Little Big Man” and have Olga magically appear to serve you, - - well forget it. Russian women are beautiful, exotic, sexy, feminine, etc., etc., etc.. But one thing they are not is desperate.
These are intelligent, and for the most part, highly educated, and often very talented women. It’s definitely very possible to meet and marry one of these beautiful women. But don’t expect her to come scampering to your doorstep. You will have to travel to Russia, meet her, and prove to her that you are worth her leaving Russia to marry and live with you.
So if you’re looking for a “mail order bride”, don’t look in Russia. If you pursue a Russian woman with that mentality, you are doomed to failure.
Myth “busted”? I hope so.
Goodbye for now.
Gary

Thank you for busting the myth! I was one of so called “mail order brides” (it sounds so humiliating, by the way) and everything was fine until I actually got to USA to my then fiancee (and he visited me before!)… Things changed, and I was expected to be a servant for the mister… Thank God, I escaped in 6 months to California (from MA)where I met my present fiancee!
Hi Gary, i was so interesting readed your web site.
I want share with you my current situation.
i meet a beautiful and funny ukranian girl in a web agency(anatasia international) but many people told me that agency is just money, and will be hard to meet in person to my girl.
What do you recomend to me?
Thanks a lot, i be will waiting.
bless.
Alejandro.
Hi Alejandro:
Thanks for visiting and I’m glad you enjoyed my site.
I’m not familiar with the agency you referred to, but I do know there are lots of agencies running scams. One way to learn more about a specific agency is to do a search on Google as follows - - “name of agency - scam”. then read the postings that come up. Also there is an agency blacklist on the web that exposes the scammers. Sorry, but I don’t have the site name available now. But try a search on “Russian women agency blacklist”.
Also, have you read my posts on the page “finding a Russian bride”? There are some practical solutions there. In my opinion, the best source is by personal reference. Find the Russian people in your neighborhood (trust me, if you live in any reasonably sized city, you’ll find Russians there). Find them, befriend them and let them know of your interest. If you’re sincere and genuine, they’ll help you. Also, when you find your Russian bride and bring her to your neighborhood, she’ll very much appreciate that youve taken the time to locate people she can relate to from a language and cultural standpoint.
Good luck on your quest Alejandro. Don’t give up or be discouraged. Believe me, it’s worth it when you finally succeed.
Gary.
P.S. Alejandro - - Since you’ve apparently already met a woman you’re interested in it’s possible that you both are constrained to communicating only through the agency. But if she has your e-mail address, she can write directly to you from her own computer or through an Internet cafe. She can write in Russian if need be and you can have it interpreted by a service in your community or by a Russian person you befriend. In turn you can write to her in Russian through a service or Russian freind. In this way, you can setup communications with each other directly and bypass the agency. From there you can make appropriate plans to assure that you will both actually meet each other instead of getting dealt a handoff. Helpful? I hope so. Again, good luck.
Hello Alejandro,
That site is highly referred in the web like a scam, or at least very expensive.
I’m in Loversplanet.com and I met one real russian girl, try it. Very trustful site.
Greetings from Venezuela.
Great {article|post}…
This the best article I have never seen before….
Completely understand what your stance in this matter. Although I would disagree on some of the finer details, I think you did an awesome job explaining it. Sure beats having to research it on my own. Thanks
Hi Zachariah:
You’re welcome and thanks for your visit and praise. I am interested to know what points you disagree with though. Please comment again about that (or anything else you feel inclined to).
As a matter of fact there will be more opportunity to comment about the “myth thing” as I’m going to rant about it some more. I follow the search queries on Google and am appalled at how many searches are still submitted looking for “Russian mail order bride”. I’m not going to delve into it here but the short message is that any man that finds a Russian woman who responds positively to “mail order bride” will find it easy to spell her name. No matter how complex her name may be it will be spelled S-C-A-M.
More Later and thanks again for the visit Zachariah. Gary.
Great blog! I genuinely love how it is easy on my eyes as well as the facts are well written. I am wondering how I can be notified whenever a new post has been made. I have subscribed to your rss feed which should do the trick! Have a nice day!
i dont really agree with what you are saying how could you think like that?
Hello Buy;
Just what is it you don’t agree with. Don’t be shy. Lay it out there dude.
As for how I could “think like that”, well I live with a Russian Woman, and I know lots of Russian women. I ask them what they think and I pay attention to what they say and how they say it. In short, universally their response to the mail order bride stuff is “it stinks”.
Good Luck to you. Gary.
